Sarah Palin's re-Tweet might indicate she's gay-friendly

Tue. January 4, 2011

Washington, DC - By passing on a conservative lesbian blogger's Tweet about "don't ask, don't tell", former vice presidential candidate and reality television star Sarah Palin might have outed herself as gay-friendly.

The original Tweet by Tammy Bruce around 10 p.m. (ET) Monday seems to back dropping the controversial policy and allowing gays to serve openly in the military.

"The more someone complains about the homos, the more we should look under their bed," Bruce sent to her followers.

Palin then re-Tweeted the seemingly pro-gay, anti-DADT message to her 353,574 followers.

Bruce believes Palin's use of her Tweet is her first comment on DADT.

"She's a decent woman & friend to the community," Bruce wrote in a follow-up Tweet. "I think we homos may have to get an additional honorary disco ball--unless @SarahPalinUSA & @AnnCoulter are willing to fight over it."

Gawker's Max Read concedes Palin isn't "rabidly homophobic," but he found the Twitter exchange "odd."

"For one thing, a major political figure should probably not be using the word "homos," or quoting its use, even in a vaguely pro-gay rights context," writes Read.
