HOMICIDE

Be Street Smart and Be Safe

Chicago Police detectives are investigating the recent homicide of a 31-year-old man that took place in the victim's home on the 3400 block of North Elaine Place. Additionally, a 38-year-old man was killed in his apartment last August on the 500 block of West Belden. While police are not linking the two homicides, residents need to be aware of these crimes and take necessary measures to keep themselves safe.

While Chicago Police continue to investigate these homicides, detectives urge anyone who had information about this crime to call the Area Three Homicide Unit at 312-744-8261.



WHAT YOU CAN DO TO REDUCE THE POSSIBILITY OF BECOMING A VICTIM OF THIS TYPE OF CRIME:

-- Always be extremely cautious about who you allow to enter your home.

-- Do not let strangers enter your house or apartment under any circumstances.

-- When inside your home, keep all doors and windows locked at all times.

-- Be aware of your surroundings. If you see someone or something you think is suspicious, call 9-1-1 immediately.



-- If you are walking to your residence or vehicle, have your keys in your hands.

-- If possible, while traveling during late night or early morning hours, travel with a friend.
