The City of Chicago has announced that metered parking near Wrigley Field will soon be enforced on Sundays. This announcement effects hundreds of meters on city streets in the Lakeview area, including Boystown.
44th Ward Alderman Tom Tunney says the change was approved after business owners complained Cubs fans take parking spaces away from their customers on Sundays. The change takes effect April 11th, just one week before the Cubs’ first Sunday home game of the season. The 7-day enforcement will continue during the Cubs off-season.
Effective Sunday, April 11th, Drivers will now pay 25 cents per hour to park at the 2-hour meters or risk $30 parking tickets or the boot on Sunday between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
The newly effect streets, including Boystown locations, are:
Addison Street, from Halsted Street to Sheffield Avenue.
Belmont Avenue, from Lake Shore Drive to Racine Avenue.
Broadway, from Diversey Parkway to Addison.
Clark Street, from Diversey to Byron Street, a block south of Irving Park Road.
Diversey, from Sheridan Road to Racine.
Halsted Street, from Barry Avenue to Melrose Street.
Sheffield, from Belmont Avenue to Addison.
Southport, from Belmont to Byron.
