Washington, D.C. -
Lady Gaga, who was accompanied to the VMAs by gay service members in an effort to bring attention to the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, has engaged in a dialogue with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on the topic.
On Tuesday, Lady Gaga tweeted: "@ladygaga Gay Veterans were my VMA dates. Repeal Don't Ask Don't Tell. CALL HARRY REID to Schedule Senate Vote"
Sen. Reid responded: "@HarryReid – @ladygaga There is a vote on #DADT next week. Anyone qualified to serve this country should be allowed to do so http://bit.ly/9ucdIj #nvsen"
Lady Gaga was pleased: "@ladygaga: God Bless and Thank you @HarryReid, from all of us, like u, who believe in equality and the dream of this country. We were #BORNTHISWAY."
On Tuesday, the hashtag "BORNTHISWAY" was one of the top trending tags on Twitter.
