'I Love Being Out' theme flies in the face of Beijing's crackdown on LGBTQ speech

The largest LGBTQ Pride parade in Asia will be held as a virtual event on October 30. Open to the world, participants can use the website to walk the virtual route, watch music performances, and see the floats.

Taiwan Rainbow Civil Action Association said that there will be trucks decked out in LED lights that will be paraded along the traditional route so that locals can be entertained without overcrowding.

The theme of the parade is "I Love Being Out" which flies in the face of mainland China, which officially views Taiwan as a rogue territory of the communist nation.

Beijing has been seen as moving towards a bigger crackdown on LGBTQ rights in mainland China.

The U.S. has a strange political relationship with Taiwan. It does not officially recognize its independence from mainland China. As part of its "One China" policy, the U.S. recognizes that the name China refers to a single nation but is "officially" silent as to whether or not Taiwan is a separate, independent nation from the mainland.

Based on strategic alliances with Taipei, the U.S. would be automatically involved in a war with mainland China should it ever invade Taiwan.
