Chicago Pride Fest returned for the first time since 2019 on Friday. The 20th annual street festival continues Saturday and Sunday on Chicago’s North Side.
Out singer-songwriter Vincent, Kristine W, and local favorites Rod Tuffcurls were among the performances on opening night.
The enthusiastic crowd was ready to celebrate the return of Pride - even if in October.
Pride Fest was canceled in 2020 and delayed in 2021 due to COVID-19 constraints. The annual Pride parade was initially delayed to October 3, then eventually canceled, allowing the addition of a third day to the festival.
Entertainment for Saturday includes Shangela, Chicago’s own Katie Kadan, Brooke Eden, St. Panther, and Mya.
The DJ Stage at Waveland Ave. will feature DJs Cashera, Ethan Cole, Spencer Huff, among others.

The North Halsted Business Alliance has organized the event with COVID precautions in mind, which includes the recommendation that attendees be fully vaccinated or wear a mask.
Free COVID testing and vaccinations from Northshore Clinical Labs will be available at the festival throughout the weekend.
Chicago Pride Fest continues Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on N. Halsted St. from Addison to Grace in Chicago’s Northalsted neighborhood, commonly referred to as “Boystown.”
A $15 suggested donation is recommended. Donations support local nonprofits and fund community projects like the Chicago Pride Crosswalks.
