Chicago activists plan Prop 8 victory celebration tonight

Prop 8 Victory Celebration tonight at 6 p.m. in Daley Plaza

Chicago, IL - Join the Impact Chicago has organized a Proposition 8 victory celebration rally tonight at 6 p.m. in Chicago's Daley Plaza at Clark and Washington St.

Wednesday afternoon, Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker of San Francisco ruled that California's gay marriage ban is unconstitutional.



The judge ruled the ban violated the U.S. Constitution's 14th Amendment equal protection clause.

A number of celebrations are planned nationally including a public rally in West Hollywood at the West Hollywood Park on North San Vicente at 6 p.m.

A march in planned in Phoenix. The march which begins 5:30 p.m. will begin at the Cesar Chavez Plaza.

Gay activists warn that today's verdict will likely be challenged with the next legal battle in the Ninth Circuit Court. The appeal may ultimately reach the U.S. Supreme Court.
