Chicago's largest street festival is only 2 weeks away and organizers are in full preparation mode.
“This will be a very special edition of Northalsted Market Days," said festival organizer Mark Liberson. "We've all endured incredible challenges through the pandemic. Thanks to continuing vaccinations, we'll be able to celebrate Market Days as a community once again."
Northalsted Business Alliance, the group behind Chicago Pride Fest and Market Days, announced in May the return of Market Days on Aug. 6 - 8, 2021, adding a Friday night edition, the first in its 38-year history.
Market Days, along with Pride Fest, were canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Chicago Pride Fest is slated to return on Friday, Oct. 1 and Saturday, Oct. 2. The two-day street festival will lead up to the Chicago Pride Parade on Sunday, October 3.
The 39th Northalsted Market Days - Aug. 6 - 8 - will be headlined by Trixie Mattel, Todrick Hall, Greyson Chance, Lisa Lisa, CeCe Peniston and Jody Watley.
Also on the bill is the Fierce Project, a collaboration between Ultra Naté & Pose star Angelica Ross featuring Mila Jam; Ty Herndon, Steve Grand, Inaya Day and international DJs Alex Acosta, Nina Flowers, Danny Verde, Joe Pacheco, Cindel, Deanne and Alexander.
The annual street festival draws nearly 100,000 people to the Northalsted neighborhood.
"We can't wait to welcome locals and visitors alike to join us for an unforgettable three-day weekend," said Liberson, who also serves as Northalsted Business Alliance Vice-President.
A $15 recommended donation for entry helps cover festival costs, support local charities, and fund community programming.
