The board of directors of HIV/AIDS agency Test Positive Aware Network (TPAN) announced that Bruce Weiss resigned from his position as TPAN's chief executive officer effective July 6.
"We thank Bruce for his contribution to TPAN over the last 15 months" stated TPAN Board President Tom Hart. "Bruce arrived at a time when TPAN, like many other organizations, was struggling with the effects of the downturn in the U.S. economy and reduced funding, and helped to provide stability as well as to improve infrastructure at the agency when it was needed."
Bill Farrand, who has been with TPAN since 2007 and is currently the director of client services, will serve as chief executive officer of TPAN while the board conducts its search for Weiss' replacement. "Bill served the organization amazingly well in the interim capacity before Bruce came on board," said Hart, "and in this capacity will add seamlessness and continuity needed during any period of transition."
Farrand holds a master's degree in community counseling from Northeastern Illinois University, and prior to coming to TPAN was an executive in financial services and telecommunications for over 10 years. "TPAN has made unbelievable progress and created many great alliances over the past year," said Farrand. "This is an exciting time to be a part of this organization."
Founded in 1987, TPAN is Chicago's oldest peer-led AIDS service organization and specializes in treatment information, support services, and prevention. TPAN publishes Positively Aware (PA), an internationally known and respected magazine devoted to HIV treatment and wellness. PA is published bimonthly and has a circulation of more than 85,000.
