‘Schitt’s Creek,’ ‘The Prom’ nominated for 32nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards

GLAAD last week announced that actress Niecy Nash would host its upcoming 32nd annual GLAAD Media Awards on April 8.

“I am so thrilled to be hosting this year's GLAAD Media Awards, honoring the LGBTQ stories and images that change the world by growing acceptance and understanding,” Nash said.

GLAAD previously announced 198 nominees in 28 categories for this year's awards with Netflix scoring the most nominations of any network this year for a total of 26 nominees, including for the series Schitt’s Creek and The Prom. GLAAD has also reinstated the Barbara Gittings Award for Excellence in LGBTQ Media, which honors a pioneering individual, group, or community media outlet that has made a significant contribution to the development of LGBTQ media. This year’s recipient is Windy City Times, Chicago’s pioneering LGBTQ news publication established in 1985 by Jeff McCourt, Bob Bearden, Drew Badanish, and Tracy Baim.

After 35 years, the award winning paper published its final print edition on Sept. 30, 2020.

The virtual awards ceremony will stream on YouTube on April 8 at 7 PM CT. Hulu will also stream the event starting at 9 PM.
