Apple officials are so determined to keep porn off your iPad, they censored a graphic novel based on Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest." And now, they've changed their minds about it.
The novel, written by Belgian gay author Tom Bouden in 2001, changes several female characters into men.
The images in question involve two men kissing and do not show full frontal nudity. However, Apple rejected the comic flat-out, then rejected a second version with large black boxes over the images.
On the third go-around, Apple accepted the book.
"We made a mistake," said Apple spokesperson Trudy Miller.
Interestingly, Prism Comics reports that the book was immediately accepted by Amazon for Kindle, which does not censor content.
"Amazon doesn't seem to have a problem with the story," publisher Peter Bonte told Prism.
"The problem with Amazon is that they take 70% and Apple only 30%, plus the platform is absolutely not usable for comics. Very low quality, they actively degrade the images, different screen sizes, not in color and Amazon charges $3 extra for non-US sales."
