Inaugural Chicago Pride Softball Classic Tournament postponed until 2021, Pride Bowl XIII pushed to August

The Open Sunday Softball League will not start until June 7, the league's organizer – the Chicago Metropolitan Sports Association (CMSA) – announced on Thursday.

They will have 50-minute games and teams will play triple headers.  Traditionally, teams play two 60-minute games per weekend, and the league starts in late-April or early-May.

Plus, the inaugural Chicago Pride Softball Classic Tournament will not be held this year and the Pride Bowl XIII flag football tournament has been rescheduled from the late-June Pride weekend to August 7-8.

"Since it is the first year for the tournament and it was being marketed with Pride events, it was felt best to start next year," organizers said.

The Open Sunday Softball committee said June 7th is the last day that they could start the league.  If the stay-at-home orders are extended, the league likely will not be played this year.

"The health of all the players, fans and umpires is more important than softball.  Softball will always be there and we want to make sure you are too," organizers said.
