North Halsted Halloween Parade Breaks Records

Fri. November 7, 2003

For both number of spectators & costume contest participants

Chicago, IL - A record number of spectators, estimated at 15,000 and nearly double the figure of previous years—watched this year's North Halsted Halloween Parade on October 31. In addition, an estimated 300 adults, children and pets signed up for the parade's costume contest--a number that also doubled from previous years.

From fire eaters and Seigfried & Roy impersonators to clowns, divas and ghouls of all shapes and sizes, the festive evening received widespread TV coverage and has earned the annual event "must-attend-on-Halloween" status.

Following the parade, prizes were given out to participants who registered for the costume contest. The first-place grand prize--to a couple costumed as an elaborate Scarlett & Rhett from "Gone With the Wind"--was a roundtrip ticket for two on American Airlines, a $200 savings bond from North Community Bank, a $50 gift certificate from Answer Wireless and a six-month membership to Cheetah Gym.

The parade, which this year started at Halsted and Belmont, proceeded north to Cornelia, then back south to Roscoe, is presented by Triangle Neighbors and sponsored by the Northalsted Area Merchants Association and Effen Vodka.
