Torrence, CA -
Police in California say a parolee targeted gay men on Craigslist, set up fake "dates," then kidnapped and robbed them.
24-year-old Angel Pena Ayala was charged with eight felonies Monday in Torrence. He pleaded not guilty. He's already done time for carjacking and robbery.
"If there's more victims, maybe they will feel more comfortable coming forward," Hermosa Beach police Sgt. Robert Higgins told the Daily Breeze newspaper.
The suspect allegedly told police he sometimes robbed three men a night. Both known victims had Asian names, but it's not clear if the suspect was targeting Asians.
In one case, police say Ayala arranged to meet at the victim's home. There, he allegedly pulled out a gun and made the victim load his own television and other electronics into the suspect's car. Then, he allegedly kidnapped the victim, drove him to an ATM, and forced him to withdraw money.
Ayala is being held on $4.4 million bond. If convicted, he could spend the rest of his life in prison.
If you have information about this suspect, call Hermosa Beach police.
