Northalsted Business Alliance announces executive director appointment

Thu. April 4, 2019

Chicago, IL - The Northalsted Business Alliance announced the appointment of Kevin Richards to Executive Director.

"It is an incredible opportunity to help manage the storied legacy of Boystown, while shepherding both retail development and new initiatives that enhance the entire area," Richards said.

As the Executive Director of the Streeterville Chamber of Commerce, Richards spearheaded the "Streeterville: The Complete Package" marketing campaign, which spotlights the downtown neighborhood as the premiere location to live, work and play.

Previous experience also includes Director of Special Events at EdgeAlliance, where he elevated the Dining Out for Life event to engage 80 restaurants and countless diners to generate thousands of dollars to house those living with HIV.

Richards also managed the Howard Street Special Service Area and was a co-owner of Broadside Studio, a marketing, brand identity and web development company.

Board President Ramesh Ariyanayakam welcomed Richards.

"Kevin brings both a tremendous background and a fresh perspective to the organization," he said. "We are exceptionally lucky to have him at the helm of our dynamic organization."

Richards replaces Chad Honeycutt, who left the business group earlier this year.

Formed in 1980, Northalsted Business Alliance represents more than 150 businesses along the Halsted Street corridor in Chicago's Boystown neighborhood. The organization hosts the annual Chicago Pride Fest, Northalsted Market Days and Northalsted Halloween Parade.
