Human First Gala

On May 14, Center on Halsted hosted their annual Human First Gala. An early pre-party kicked off the evening with a hearty buffet, drinks and announcements including such honorees as Jo Minow from the Chicago Historical Society and John Rowe from Exelon for the Human First Community Spirit Awards. This important gathering recognizes important contributions to Chicago's LGBT community.

As the clock struck 7:30 pm the guests moved across the street to the Harris Theatre for Music and Dance to watch a show put on by Broadway belter Linda Eder and lesbian funny woman Wanda Sykes.

Center on Halsted, located at 3656 N Halsted in Chicago, brings the community together by offering services and programs for youths and adults. The organization is quickly expanding, during the reception it was mentioned that now meetings will be held outside the walls of this important community center to reach even more people. The Center provides assistance for victims of violence and bigotry.
