Get a Clue while walking in Chicago

After surviving a pandemic and working from home becoming a growing trend, people are looking to leave the house these days more than ever. Clue: A Walking Mystery seeks to motivate participants to become active while exploring Downtown Chicago.

The murder mystery game Cluedo originally came from British board game creator Anthony E. Pratt in 1943. Fast forward to 2023 and there have been some changes over the years.

Mr. Boddy Black is still part of the equation, but we now have Mayor Green, Solicitor Peacock and Chef White, as opposed to its previous gender-specific versions. Miss Scarlett, Professor Plum and Colonel Mustard are still along for the ride.

Modern audiences have craved that growth in the variety of characters offered for years and replaced Mrs. White with Dr. Orchid in 2016 for the board game.

The rooms have remained the same and so have the weapons with the walking tour.

The popular Hasbro board game Clue already has a strong fanbase. Detectives begin their adventure at Block 37, inside the lower level of 108 North State Street. There they will find a setup to check in with butlers who will instruct them on the rules and give them materials to assist them. This leads the detectives to a variety of locations across the Windy City.

There are built-in breaks to shop and eat along the way. Note-taking is encouraged with the board game and also with this outdoor activity. The Butlers revel in their roles and are skilled at entertainment.

Families of all ages will most likely enjoy the fresh air and exercise all over the beautiful city. The unpredictable weather will influence when the game can be offered, but in October the blood will be pumping as ticket holders run around solving the crime.

A Walking Mystery is still finding its footing and will most likely return with improvements. A Spanish version should be offered because the creators are currently sleeping on a whole segment of the Illinois population.

This Clue could benefit by having more rewards at each station such as a discount or gift at a nearby participating retailer. It's Halloween season so even a piece of candy would be a treat!

Keep in mind that this game takes a few hours and on busy days there may be lines to suss out the clues at the remote stations.

Clue: A Walking Mystery will have patrons exercising while having fun and seeing sights in Chicago they may have missed before. It's more than just a walk in the park!
