Wisconsin is much more than just cheese and the restaurant scene continues to evolve. Casual food chain Culver's Restaurant continues to invade Illinois because of its delicious butterburgers, frozen custard and those Wisconsin cheese curds.

Upon a recent visit to Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, several restaurants were found to be housed in the same building at 7036 Grand Geneva Way, in Lake Geneva.

The breakfast at the Grand Cafe hit the spot thanks to the simplicity of the many standard items included with eggs. The cafe potatoes were crispy and paired well with the peppered sausage and toast.

There's a wide variety to try with everything from a breakfast BLT to the buttermilk pancakes.

The early morning hours help to start the day on a full stomach. With all the activities available on the property, preparing with the right fuel is crucial.

Another restaurant at the resort called Ristorante Brissago is an Italian cuisine lover's dream. While rooted in regional recipes from Italy, there's a modern take that is fresh and new. Dinner hours are from 5-9 with an extra hour later on Fridays and Saturdays. There's even a private chef dinner fro groups of 10 or more every Friday with five course and wine paired to the food.

There are some hearty dishes to try on the menu, so pace yourself and start off with a salad. After exploring the flatbreads, check out the house made pasta of Aragosta Tagliatelli served with delicious Maine lobster.

The breaded pork chop is named after the place so you know it's good just from the title of Porco a la Brissago. The combination of garlic, Pomodoro tomato sauce and basil give it just the taste to make diners crave more.

There's a wide selection of wines to choose from that are brought in from California and Italy among other regions.

While on a city tour of Lake Geneva, we stopped at Tuscan Tavern & Grill at 430 Broad Street and found it to be top-notch. The soups and salads were high quality and the Black Angus burger was quite impressive.

Wisconsin is giving diners a chance to take a bite out of Italy while remaining in the Midwest.
