Pendry Hotels & Resorts has moved into town with the opening of Pendry Chicago. Set in the iconic 1929 Art Deco Carbide & Carbon Building, 230 North Michigan Avenue, this space has been transformed into a place finally worthy of its rich history.

After the Hard Rock Hotel was rebranded into the St. Jane Hotel in 2018, things were quickly changed and Pendry Chicago is the next step in the evolution of luxury hotels. Painting the walls white instead of black has created a more open space and the new decor highlighing dynamic artists is just the right touch. A wide variety of choices on where to stay range from king rooms to tower corner suites.

Fragrance company MiN New York supplies some of the toiletries in the bathrooms with scents that are simply unforgettable.

This 40-story tower is part of the California-based hotel chain Montage International and contains 364 newly designed rooms to explore. There's a billiard room for games and the cozy Bar Pendry to sip on cocktails complete with a high end ecclectic menu of food. To work off the calories, make a stop at the fitness center that is open 24 hours for convenience. A rooftop deck is planned to open by the end of June that has a spectacular view of the surrounding buildings. Look for upcoming events set inside Pendry Chicago in the future.

Many visitors like to dine right in the hotel where they stay and having an open oyster bar to greet them is certainly a step in the right direction.

The restaurant Venteux, translates from French to mean "windy,"  is presented by Chef Donald Young, who brings his Michellin star talent to the cuisine. It is open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for breakfast with the adorable Venteux Cafe then takes a break before dinner service from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Happy hour from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and a brunch on Saturdays and Sundays goes from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 312-777-9003 for a reservation to enjoy people watching while enjoying bites of Nouvelle French cuisine.

With nearby locations such as the Chicago Riverwalk and the theater district, suites should be filling up as the year progresses, so book early for a discount. Currently there are hotel credits and several perks to be found on Pendry.com.
