Eno Wine Room Continues to Make Pour Decisions

Eno Wine Room at 505 N. Michigan Ave. has caught on to a trend with growing popularity in Chicago. Hosting a drag brunch, brilliantly called Pour Decisions, has proved profitable for the venue in the past few weeks. With trial runs during Pride month, this promotion is continuing at least through July and hopefully longer.

The Downtown crowd seems to be craving diversity with all the shopping and tourists around Michigan Avenue, so just add a little sequins to the street.

Eno is part of the Intercontinental Chicago, which brings in foot traffic from the hotel and people passing by in front who want to see what all the fuss is about inside.

As music blasts from the speakers to the tune of various themes picked by a rotating cast of drag queens hosted currently by Fox E. Kim during the two hours of show every Sunday, people come in hungry and ready to be entertained.

Executive chef Craig Couper smartly keeps the brunch menu simple and pumps out the cuisine quickly from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Along with bottomless spirits such as mimosas, sangria, wine or beer, diners can choose avocado toast with salsa verde, a bacon and gruyere frittata or buttermilk fried chicken and waffles.

The layout is a little awkward at Eno with columns blocking the views and it would be nice to see the queens on a proper stage with flattering lighting, but many will enjoy the up close feeling that the current setting brings. These queens will wake you up on a Sunday afternoon with a lively and entertaining theme each week.

The revamped Theater on the Lake, 2401 N. Lake Shore Drive, continues to be a venue made for fundraisers.

The Holiday Heroes Annual Gala fully utilized the space to benefit hospitalized children in the Chicago area on June 13. An open bar, a healthy amount of appetizers and a superhero theme were all part of the fun over the course of the evening. Country singer Ali Morgan and the inspirational Soul Children of Chicago Choir provided entertainment before a live auction raised money for the worthy cause.

A few weeks later on June 29 JourneyCare used the Theater on the Lake space for its fundraiser. This time, for the first year, the organization used past contestants from seasons of the reality competition show Project Runway. Benefitting adults and children with advanced illness is JourneyCare's plan and they thrived this year by curating a fashion show and live auction during the evening's festivities.
