Catch Up On Chicago Concerts

After the summer concerts die down it is hard to get me out of the house sometimes. Chicago hosts some great musical festivals that made me exhausted trying to cover them all. Lollapalooza, Pitchfork, Mamby on the Beach, Riot Fest, and North Coast Music Festival were all on my plate in 2016.

Many of those acts come through Chicago afterwards but I like to focus on ones that weren't part of those lineups.

Troye Sivan hit the Aragon Ballroom to a packed house. Rainbow flags were waved and he speaks to a new generation that crosses the LGBT market into the straight world. Expect big things from this budding new artist that plays in bigger venues each time out.

Green Day rocked at the same venue with a sold out show. Chicagoans took the opportunity to see them play new tunes in a smaller spot. The best moment was when a young fan held up a sign stating he could play anything off Dookie and was motioned up by Billie Joe Armstrong. Not only did he belt out a song and play it perfectly but he stage dove after finishing. This is what rock n' roll dreams are made of.

Rumor has it that Green Day might headline Lollapalooza in 2017 so stay tuned!

Pentatonix is celebrating this holiday season. They have had two number one Christmas albums and a television special. They joined Dolly Parton for "Jolene" earning a Grammy nomination.

Seeing them in concert at the huge venue of the Allstate Arena proved that they can handle a large crowd.

They do a Daft Punk megamix that has to be heard.

Kappa Alpha Psi held an annual scholarship fundraiser and called on the legendary Chaka Khan to help out.

The Horseshoe Hammond Casino was the perfect spot for guests to enjoy a preshow reception and hear the icon belt out "I'm Every Woman." While there were a few hits missing, fans will just have to catch her on tour to hear those.

We weren't lucky on the slots but were able to say hi to the talented lady and say thanks for a past interview.

Things slow down a bit for live music around the holidays but look for things to ramp up again in early 2017!
