April Showers and May Flowers with Events

The 32nd Latino Film Festival came to a close with a night centered around Argentina. A screening of the film Sin Hijos was shown at the Chicago History Museum. For those of us in the dating scene this movie hit home on ways to disguise our private life. This time it was about hiding a kid perfectly played by Guadalupe Manent.

Afterwards a packed after party we held upstairs from the screening with tons of food, wines and live music. Look for next year's lineup at chicagolatinofilmfestival.org when it is released.

The Loire Valley region hosted a luncheon to try some amazing wines from dry to sweet to sparkling at Sepia. Chef Andrew Zimmerman created a menu to pair with each wine. Sommelier Arthur Hon was charming as he walked us each through the different areas in France's largest white wine district. The chernin blanc and cabernet franc were among the varietals featured.

Escape the recent dreary weather and plan a trip at least by sampling these wines today.

Time Out Chicago held a bit sized dessert event at Fulton Market Kitchen called Treat Yo' Self. It was a clever title because not only did they have a variety of food selections but ariel massages and manicures were part of the event.

Black Dog Gelato formed a line to grab delicious milkshakes and Sprinkles served up the samples. This was a great way to spend a Sunday and treat yourself right!

Virtue Cider packed the Publican Quality Meats space in the beginning of May with a casual event. From oysters to cheeses paired with the cider made for a tasty time. Stations both upstairs and down were busy serving up bites for the crowds who mingled together.

The Chicago Bar Foundation had just the right amount of attendees for their fundraiser titled Passport to Chicago on May 6. Food tastings from different neighborhoods were spotlighted in the room and people voted on them. The students really learned to present their individual dishes with syle at this party. Giovanna Cirilo and Velton Saldanha were each awarded a thousand dollars in scholarships to the Kendall College where the event was held. Chicago's Midwest Wine Selecation and Koval Distllery helped wash the samples down.

This was the organization's third annual event so looking forward to see what they will bring next year.
