Windy City WingFest Wows West Loop

The 17th annual Chicago's Best WingFest flew into the West Loop at the Bailey Auditorium on the afternoon of Sunday, Feb. 21. The sold out wing ding had around 2,000 attendees consuming 50,000 chicken wings in just a few hours.

Dinosaur BBQ from Weed St. won Best of the Fest, Best BBQ Wing, and Rookie of the Year.

Lord and Lady of the Wings were crowned in separate gender dividing wing eating competitions.

Some standouts from the various booths were the exotic wings of Whisk and Timothy O'Toole's hot wings.

While primarily a straight man's paradise many lesbians noticeably attended the fundraiser including open comic Fortune Feimster, known for Chelsea Lately and Last Comic Standing.

Best advice for next year is to arrive early as folks filled up their brought from home plastic containers in large lines and many restaurants ran out of wings before the end of the day.

WingFest raised over $155,000 for various charities including Chicago Neighbors United, providing scholarships for inner city youths. For more information visit www.wingfest.com.
