The first issue of Windy City Times appeared. On the front page Tracy Baim writes, "Mayor's committee named: Gay and Lesbian activists chosen":
"The appointments to the 15-person Mayor's Committee on Gay Lesbian issues were announced Monday late afternoon by Mayor Harold Washington's liaison to the gay and lesbian community, Kit Duffy.
"In addition to the 15 slots there will be a symbolic position for closeted gays and lesbians. One of the 15 positions will be a 'job share' between Women and Children First Bookstore owners Linda Bubon and Ann Christophersen.
"The 16 people slated include eight women and eight men. Three blacks and one Hispanic were selected."
