Gerber/Hart closed its Edgewater location in January 2012. The new Rogers Park location is set to open Spring of 2013. Founded in 1981, Gerber/Hart Library has since grown into the Midwest's largest LGBT circulating library with over 14,000 volumes, 800 periodical titles, and 100 archival collections.
