The weekend started off with meeting singer Melissa Etheridge after interviewing her a few times in the past. I drove out with my friend Luis to The Venue in Hammond, Indiana. We had some time to spare and he played the Wheel of Fortune slot where he won almost a hundred dollars on the first spin!
We chatted with Melissa backstage after a hug and I presented her with my article in Windy City Times.
Etheridge performed unlike many live artists of her generation. Not only do her fans go crazy but she deserves the adoration. She rocked the house even rolling on the stage and banged out her hits one after another. The whole audience wanted to come to her window by the end of the show.
We signed up for a post show prize and my buddy won $1,000 dollars in the drawing!
Saturday had me driving out to St. Charles to hang with Judy Tenuta for the premiere of her movie Sister Mary, where she steals my act and dresses in nun drag. The movie stars our very own Miss Foozie along with ANT and Bruce Vilanch.
Then I sped back to the city to see a concert by the lake with the Goo Good Dolls. Charter One Pavillion is a wonderful venue to see shows in the summer but watch out parking is 20 bucks if you drive!
After the midnight hour and the concert it was Roscoe's time to see a new singer perform. Her name is Emii and she has a new video with Snoop Dogg. We chatted before her show about summer superhero movies and had a blast.
The gambling weekend continued on Sunday with a special VIP pre opening to the new Des Plaines Rivers Casino. The buffet was amazing but the slots were tight. I usually can play for a while on the Sex and the City slot but my money went down the drain faster than Carrie's shoe budget! Later Kristin Chenoweth popped up at Sidetrack to a packed house and Jennifer Hudson sang at Ravinia.
