Fast fashion retail company Shein has returned to Illinois for a four-day tour beginning on September 10. The latest pop-up site is at the multilevel mall Block 37, 108 North State Street, on the second floor.
This latest endeavor materialized after the Schaumburg, Illinois, three-day event that happened in 2023 at Woodfield Mall, as written about here. Chicago's September temporary setup followed the Columbus, Ohio, Shein shop at Easton Gateway last month.
Eager customers lined up at the front door of the activation, waiting for opening day on Thursday morning. The staff faced challenges with shipping and importing some of the merchandise, forcing them to work extreme hours to make the event a success.
It all paid off in the spacious layout to accommodate the expected large crowds. The women's section covered the first floor and a staircase wound to the men's/extended size Curve section below.
Trends for fall and winter were on display with a focus on casual activewear. There are sub-brands and sister labels within Shein, Glowmode, Dazy, Manfinity and Musera, to name just a few. The color palette leaned towards tan, orange, brown and autumnal green.
There were accessories sprinkled throughout and there were special social media perks. Posting on Instagram earned shoppers a small pouch and customers took home a free tote bag if over $50 was spent.
Once the current in-stock items sell out, the party is over. There are no fitting rooms and no stockroom inventory. What you see is what you get and for the price it's a steal.
Price tags remain low because the company uses a digital-first manufacturing model with no physical overhead. Shein manufactures in small batches to test the popularity of an item and avoid backstock.
Shein operates over 15 warehouses globally with hubs in Indiana, China and Belgium.
There are no plans at the moment for a brick-and-mortar location from this major retailer in Illinois, so seize the day and stop by today before it is too late.
Thursday through Saturday hours are 11 a.m.- 7:30 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Central Time. Visit us.shein.com for around-the-clock online shopping.
