Mercadito Restaurant Group recently opened a new location at 2423 North Lincoln Avenue in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago. The vision of three brothers who own the business, Alfredo, Patricio and Felipe Sandoval, continues to expand in 2026. The trio opened the original River North location at 108 West Kinzie Street in 2008.
Mercadito means “little shop” in English and capitalizes on upscale street-market food. Mercadito sells savory starters such as the Mango Guacamole infused with fruit and signature salsas in a variety of flavors. The Lincoln Park location exclusively offers Quesabirria Pizza as an appetizer. Combining Mexican stew ingredients, pizza dough and melted cheese together makes a hearty start to any culinary adventure. Follow that up with a Mexico City Emapanada or Queso Fundido before the main event.
Entrees at Mercadito include tasty chicken enchiladas, Branzino Veracruzana and Argentinian Steak Frites. Don't sleep on sides with options such as sweet Platanos Machos, Potato Tostones and corn off the cob Esquites, among others.
For dessert, try the Tres Leches Tiramisu or the Mini Churro Bites.
Another item that diners will find exclusive to the Lincoln Park Mercadito is a Sangrita Cocktail made in-house with red wine, Grand Marnier and Centenario Reposado tequila.
The Amiga Sandia is another must-try summer beverage created with blanco tequila and watermelon.
The fiesta doesn't stop in the bar because there's a nice-sized back dining room that can be converted for special events. Mercadito River North currently hosts a festive bottomless brunch for $35 on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Mercadito opens up shop every day at 4 p.m. with varying closing hours on the weekends.
