Named after the location 101 East Erie Street in Downtown Chicago, 101 Club American Grill is making changes with a new name and chef. Head up to the 20th floor of the Residence Inn by Marriott Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile to sample some upscale American cuisine.
The title is a mouthful and prepare pack in more as the food offered is something quite special. The Conrad Chicago hotel was shuttered during the pandemic and is now open for travelers to experience. Having recently opened on October 15, 2024, the venue was formerly the home of Baptiste & Bottle. While there might not be a hundred and one reasons to visit this establishment, Roanoke Hospitality is rebranding the restaurant and setting up solid programming. Live music on the weekends is part of the entertainment planned for the fall season and several special events are in place such as a holiday jazz brunch in December.
Guests will see spectacular views of the Windy City on the north side of the place thanks to large glass windows.
Inside look for moody lighting and furniture with a Mid-century modern flare. Chef Daljit Singh serves up a strong menu that will have diners hungry for more.
Start off with the ahi tuna tartar accompanied by chips and a sriracha soya dressing, then dive into skewers of chicken and a peanut sauce on the side. The Thai Chicken Satay could have been easily overcooked and dry like skewers sometimes are, but not in this case as it was found to be tender and easily chewed.
For mains try the Lobster Ravioli for seafood or the Steak Frites for a heartier meal. Pile on the side dishes like the massive bowl of Brussels Sprouts or the Mac N' Cheese packed with rich flavor.
Wash things down with a Boss Lady beverage made with Bacardi Mango Chili, Aperol and ginger beer or sip on an Off the Tee made with Monkey Shoulder scotch whiskey.
For dessert, the Chocolate Ganache Cake will satisfy and top that off with a salted caramel latte.
Whether visiting as a tourist or just looking for a night out on the town as a local, 101 has rolled out the red carpet to a hidden gem. Restaurants can be tricky when attached to a hotel, but this one dishes out a delicious and fresh menu from the back of the house brought table side by an attentive staff.
