Wonderverse hauls out the holly for Christmas in July

Tue. July 30, 2024

Sony Pictures Entertainment's Wonderverse is preparing for the upcoming holidays and held a Christmas in July Bash on July 25, 2024, to stir up some seasonal business. Located at 2310 Oakbrook Center in Oak Brook, Illinois, this immersive experience based on motion pictures covers 45,000 square feet of space.

After opening last December the wonderful event team at Wonderverse is now ready to curate private parties for any occasion.

Santa Claus flew in for the summer from the North Pole to celebrate with the select guests at the event. Chef Scott Donaldson served up some tasty dishes for patrons from crispy salmon bites to smash burgers. For dessert try the chocolate waffle taco or the chocolate mousse cake.

Much of the cuisine can be converted to action stations and a buffet for big crowds similar to what was on display that evening. Full-service dining is offered every day at the venue but can be tailored to large groups when needed.

There were several bars mixing up movie-inspired concoctions like the Wax On, Wax Off Malibu and coconut drink or one called Show Me the Money with Jameson Black Barrel and passion fruit. Seasonal cocktails for this December are being planned with spirits from Maker's Mark called a Berry & Bright or a Holly Jolly Margarita.

Attractions are offered with a pay-to-play rate which includes the old-school arcade.

There are two hair-raising experiences in the Ghostbusters VR Academy near the entrance. Suit up at the Arena section and use your proton pack to shoot at your enemy or hop into a hovercraft to race in the Blitz area to the left.

Don't miss The Ghost Trap hidden behind these virtual games and bring your ID to enjoy the adult-only speakeasy.

The jungles of Jumanji can be quite terrifying for those afraid of heights and Jumanji: Reverse the Curse will have explorers walking across bridges high in the air. Guests can participate as one of the four characters depicted in the 2017 flick Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Prepare to be strapped into an apparatus with virtual goggles that bring the adventure to life.

Escape rooms and bumper cars will keep the kids busy for hours. Anyone under the age of 16 must be escorted and certain times are age-restricted for adults only.

Film enthusiasts will have a ball any time of the year and activities continually change depending on the popularity of each feature.
