San Antonio is often referred to as the Mission City as it was founded from five Franciscan missions along the San Antonio River. Visitors can make it their mission to explore as much as possible upon arrival in south central Texas.
Start by taking a boat ride provided by Go Rio San Antonio Cruises to see historic landmarks. Embark on a 35-minute narrated cruise over miles of territory at a peaceful pace. Look out for important architecture and sneak a peek at Selena's Bridge kissing bridge along the way.
The tours will give tourists an overall picture of what the city has to offer, then individuals can curate their trip to suit their liking.
Pick up a valuable CityPass and cut 39 percent of the cost out. Partakers of the pass can choose four of the items on the list to explore. Besides the River Cruise, the San Antonio Museum of Art is a recommended choice. This important museum is easy to navigate and separates large collections of Mediterranean, Asian and Latin American art by floors.

While outdoors don't miss La Antorcha de la Amistad by Mexican sculpture Sebastian in the downtown area. This International Orange colored Torch of Friendship, located at 430 East Commerce Street, is 65 feet tall and weighs 45 tons!
The Alamo is a new addition to the CityPass and is a site not to be missed. The interior and grounds only take approximately 30 minutes to experience and are worth every minute of it.
Skip over to Hopscotch San Antonio to immerse yourself in the unique galleries and interactive installations. The lively bar area and bright merchandise store add to the creative environment. There's a section dedicated to the queer community, which brings us to Pride.
On June 1, 2024, the San Antonio Pride River Walk celebrated for the third year with a band, a drag show and a rainbow parade on the water. Hometown hero, Grand Marshal and RuPaul Drag Racer Jorgeous changed the game this year by rolling down the river at night followed by lit barges to beat the Texas heat. The next one is slated for June 7, 2025, so make your rainbow plans for next year!
