Hop aboard the Seadog for a spin on Lake Michigan

Chicago Cruises Seadog is now unleashed on Lake Michigan for the summer and shows that things are starting to heat up at Navy Pier for 2024.

Launching from the lakefront the big yellow Seadog is easy to spot and usually parked next to the gigantic Odyssey about halfway down the south side of the pier.

Begin your aquatic adventure by checking in with the kiosk building to the left of the boarding area. Then line up and prepare for a quick photo opportunity before walking the plank to embark.

There are a variety of packages available and the architecture tour is a good one to begin with. Children under two years old can travel free but a $0.00 infant ticket helps the crew plan on seating.

After being seated an experienced team will guide people on safety guidelines including floating devices and the use of seatbelts. The Seadog allows outside food and drinks in carryout containers, but no glass items are permitted.

Say goodbye to the Windy City shore and depart on a voyage to see the sights around the area. Experience dynamic panoramic views that wrap around Lake Michigan and the surrounding skyline.

Historic buildings and trivia are conveyed on a narrated 75-minute tour while traveling down the locks on the Chicago River.

A second part of this excursion adds in speed and music to the mix. Riders should hold onto their belongings for a thrilling speedboat section to the trip out in the open waters.

Beware the splash zone, especially in the back of the boat. Plan on the possibility of being soaked and warmer clothing is suggested when speeding about the lake.

Once back on dry land, photos are lined up for purchase as passengers exit the craft.

The Seadog goes seasonal throughout the year by offering cruises during the fall including haunted Halloween excursions and frosty New Year's celebrations. Seeing the fireworks explosions above while out in the water below will give viewers new perspectives and a big bang for their buck.

Explore brunch and cocktail cruises offered by City Cruises as part of the company's programming. City Cruises Chicago operates other nearby watery opportunities such as Odyssey Chicago River, Spirit of Chicago and Chicago Elite.

From unique excursions out on the Seadog, iconic dining options found in the Billy Goat Tavern and the new virtual Flyover in Chicago immersive experience, there's something for everyone at Navy Pier. Hop on a hot dog and ride the wave today!
