While visiting the heart of Texas don't forget your stomach! San Antonio has the seventh largest population in the United States and that makes a lot of hungry mouths to feed. There's a rainbow of cuisine to sample while visiting this friendly city and here are a few examples.
Mix the southern upbringing of Jeff Balfour and France's Philippe Place, the general manager to create a recipe for success inside Southerleigh. Located in the historic Pearl brewhouse, 136 East Grayson, Suite 120, Southerleigh Food & Brewery is Balfour's baby and it shows in everything around. This Galveston-born talent has developed a solid menu to serve guests.
The brunch is phenomenal and includes a delicious crawfish roll presented with creole butter ready for dipping. Wash down this establishment's famous fried chicken with beer brewed right on the second floor.
The diverse staff is intentional which has resulted in an open and inclusive environment for everyone.
Find more diversity over at Ocho overlooking the River Walk at 1015 Navarro Street. Trans chef Kirk has a heart of gold and shows a rainbow of love in every dish. Covered with a glass atrium there's plenty of good lighting for those Instagram photos!
Order up a whole fish that is commonplace for Kirks' heritage region and sip on a refreshing mojito while relaxing in a peaceful setting.
For breakfast, Voodoo Doughnut at 400 East Houston Street will start one's day with a sugar high. Made fresh every day try the sprinkle cake doughnut with a rainbow of sprinkles or the Cock N' Balls filled with Bavarian cream.
The Good Kind offers healthier options for brunch from the Good Morning Burrito using key ingredients such as free-range local eggs to the fried cod fish tacos.
Tim McDiarmid has brought her vision to life with incredible smoothies to add to activities such as outdoor yoga on the property at Ivy Hall, 1127 Souther St. Mary's Street.
For a dinner spot that will never be forgotten head over to Botika for Peruvian and Asian fusion food. With over 20 years of experience executive chef Geronimo Lopez has concocted a menu formed from various influences. This works well with the pot stickers bathed in a black tea and sake broth and one must sample the red miso salmon dish that is roasted in-house to be served over vegetables.
