There were no thorns to be found at the preview of the Rose Lounge on the evening of February 23. Located on the ground floor of the Italian restaurant Adalina, 912 N. State Street in Chicago, this new destination can be a little difficult to find. That is part of the charm though as the creators have gone for a hidden door entrance and cool speakeasy vibe.
This philosophy carries over into the drink menu brought to life by an obviously skilled mixologist. Why not start with the Family Jewels? This smooth cocktail combines Hennessy VSOP Cognac, Rare Tea Cellars Cosa Nostra Syrup, Amaro Nonino, a grappa-based digestif made with an infusion of herbs. There is also Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup, Angostura Bitters and nutmeg. As you can imagine this will slow down even the fastest bartender so be patient when ordering.
These folks go bananas with their recipes and present a Monkey Around concoction made with Monkey 47 Gin, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur, Cocchi Americano, Aperol Aperitivo, grapefruit juice and Prosecco Italian white wine. Monkey Gin is dry and perfect for warm weather so warm up to it while you are down below!
The Red Mountain is an easy climb with Stranahan's Whiskey, Grand Marnier Orange Liqueur, Framboise Liqueur, raspberry syrup, lemon juice and Angostura Bitters or try the Peach Fuzz with Angel's Envy Rye, Domaine du Canton Ginger Liqueur, peach syrup, lemon juice, Angostura Cocoa Bitters, mint and candied ginger. As you can see these provide an experience when sipping on a beverage.
The Rose Lounge's opening just missed Valentine's Day but is the perfect place to bring a date in the future with moody infectious lighting, comfortable couches and cozy decor. Appetizers and small bites are planned for the menu and demand a return visit once everything is ironed out. The space could also be used for a swanky private party for the right event and crowd.
The Rose Lounge makes a nice addition to the already successful Adalina restaurant and creates an environment that many people will enjoy after a quick elevator ride to the first floor. You have to go up to get down with the Rose Lounge! Plan your immersive experience by visiting adalinachicago.com today.
