For those that are late to the musical party, In the Heights is the three day story about a nieghborhood in Washington Heights, New York City written by Quiara Alegria Hudes with music by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The original show was nominated for 13 Tony Awards and led to the creation of Miranda's even bigger hit Hamilton.

The movie adaptation will bring its diverse message to an even bigger audience now set to open in theaters and HBO Max on June 11, 2021 after a pandemic delay.

Perfect for summer Pride month, In the Heights takes place on the hottest day of the year at small bodega with a family running it in Washington Heights. Fans of musicals will find some catchy numbers and lots of dancing, along with a message to follow your dreams.

Hamilton fans will recognize Anthony Ramos from the Broadway musical and GoPride fans may remember him as Gaga's gay bestie in A Star Is Born.

We have a special offer for our readers to screen the film early at the Music Box Theatre, 3733 N. Southport Avenue, on Tuesday, June 1 thanks to Warner Bros. Pictures.
