From the team of David Morton and Michael Kornick, who launched the DMK Restaurants, begins a new chapter with Fort Willow. Located at 1721 N Elston Avenue, this new spot can be a little tricky to find. A black door off the beaten path of the newly renovated area opens to a lower level area that is dream of Fort Willow.
The decor is brilliant with the wood crafted ceiling that brings a hip vibe to the room thanks to architect Chris Talsma and Arlan DeRussy. The lighting sets the mood and the back area brought a genuine feeling of escapism.
The mixologist at the opening party knew how to make a craft cocktail expertly and daily promotions should bring in the crowds. Look for industry night on Wednesdays with half off specials and discounted libations several days of the week.
The food is top notch with duck rillete and meatballs offered on the menu. While good to start off with the portions did leave me craving a burger such as the one offered at DMK Burger Bar.

Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurants hosted a recent event with celebrity chef Anne Burrell at Skyline Lofts in Chicago. After visiting a previous fundraiser held there I learned to arrive early as the freight elevator is slow with stairs not being an easy option.
Special guests arrived to fill out the space for cocktails and apps beforehand. Afterwards everyone was treated to coursed out menu while Burrell demostrated several dishes and gave tips to the lucky attendees. Her sense of humor was infectious and she was asked several questions by the audience throughout the night to help them out when cooking.
A cheesecake dessert finished us off after a massive pork chop that was perfectly cooked.
Fans brought home Burrell's latest book and took photos with the spiky haired television competition host to end the night.
