Chicago Culinary Museum Honors Chefs

Wed. March 15, 2017

By Jerry Nunn

The Crystal Gardens of Navy Pier made a great spot to honor local Chicago chefs recently. Mayor Rahm Emanuel declared it Chef Fabio Viviani Day here locally. Viviani has definitely brought a lot of attention to his cuisine at the popular Bar Siena.

Before the awards ceremony began on March 8 several local establishments offered samples to guests who purchased tickets to this annual Chicago Culinary Museum fundraiser.

Some vendors featured were Mad Social, LaScarola, and the nearby Riva. Bittersweet served a light dessert and the French Pastry School displayed tons of chocolate treats.

There was a silent auction along with a blind wine game where donations could possibly have someone bringing a high priced bottle home with them.

During the ceremony Chef Fabio Viviani took home Chef of the Year while Chef Sebastien Canonne took Pastry Chef of the Year. Chef Pierre Pollin earned 2017 Legendary Chef and both Jim Kallas and Charlie Mok nabbed the Industry Legend Award.

After the induction and many cocktails the event amidst the fountains and gardens drew to a close.
