More Than A Nickel at This Pickle

Thu. February 16, 2017

By Jerry Nunn

The new spot Mango Pickle opened up at the end of November last year at 5842 N. Broadway. This Indian bistro is owned by Nakul Patel and his wife, chef Marisa Paolillo, who many will know from Wood in Boystown.

After living in India and cooking American cousine, the duo has moved to Chicago and is cooking Indian food.

There are many items to choose from such as the samosa, which is acorn squash, hibiscus-date chutney, and cilantro rice. There are several vegan options such as that one, the seasonal saag with paneer, or the fried okra.

For the meat eaters check out the flavorful lamb sliders or the chicken chettinad with funnel curry.

In cocktails the Bollywood old fashioned will surely satisfy with bourbon, amara, angostura bitters, and chai spices.

The desi marguarita mixes tequila, mango, feni, and garnished with a kashmiri chili.

The bartender is adorable and friendly so feel free to dine with him at the bar.

The ambience is cozy and friendly in this Edgewater neighborhood. The word of mouth is strong for this Bombay inspired spot in an upcoming area on the Northside of Chicago.
