Nosh & Booze Says It All

AMK Kitchen Bar has launched a new spot in the West Loop called Nosh & Booze. Having frequented Vivo in the past same space it was interesting to see how things have been changed. After 25 years in the business, Vivo was bought out by the owners of AMK Kitchen in Bucktown to make something new. The surrounding area has grown over the years with more competition every day. Parking can be challenging at times at the 838 W Randolph Street address but well worth it.

First off let's start with the booze. Specialty drinks are of course the highlight. Start off with the Bird Watcher with Mount Gay rum, pomegranate, and lime.

The Bonded Willy contains Evan Williams bourbon, sweet vermouth, and orange bitters making just the right mix with this cocktail.

There's even an IPA Jackass, which is a take on the standard Moscow mule drink with Hophead Vodka, lime, mint, and IPA. It was delicious.

Now for the nosh, labeled as "snacks" not appetizers, the cheese curds were a must try. The duck fat popcorn was also a crowd pleaser with a smokey chili seasoning.

The fried chicken sandwich, pimento burger, and the flat iron dip were all excellent. It is easy to fill up quick and not save room for dessert. Try to fight the urge to gorge and make a funnel cake part of the experience.

The vibe is fun and friendly here. The staff is still working out the kinks with an influx of people that will eventually come with time. Things have been simplified since Vivo to form a more casual environment that works well in this busy part of town.
