         Obituary in Gay Chicago reads:

         "David Morgan 1956-1985

         "Services were held last week for David Morgan, 29, former assistant manager of the Gold Coast, who died July 18, of complications resulting from AIDS.



         "Mr. Morgan died of heart failure and had been suffering from pneumonia. He was diagnosed with AIDS last January.

         "He had worked at the Gold Coast for about two years. He was a former Mr. Redoubt. He moved to Seattle a year ago last Christmas where along with his lover, John Shearer, he owned Sparks, a gay video dance bar."

         An article in Gay Chicago reads:

         "Chicago's total number of AIDS cases rose to 197 in the past month with the addition of 13 new cases, it was reported on July 9th by the Chicago Area AIDS Task Force at a meeting at the Chicago Department of Health in the Daley Center."

1996

         Article in Windy City Times begins:

         "Patrick Dwyer, who recently won a primary campaign for Cook County Recorder, has recruited veteran gay and political activist Tim Drake to manage his campaign.

         "'My commitment to capturing votes on the northside is total,' said Dwyer. 'And I believe Drake can help me do that, particularly with the all-important gay and lesbian vote.'

         "'Patrick is an old friend,' said Drake. 'During the primary, and since, he has not failed to publicly and privately criticize gay-baiting in the political process. He is the type of political activist we need to bat for.'"

         "'Dance Divas' will be held on Monday Aug. 2

         "Throughout the past eight years, 'Dance Divas' has evolved into a successful pre-event for the annual 'Dance for Life' performance. More than 20 of Chicago's top professional dancers will perform in production numbers by choreographer Harrison McEldowney during this one-night-only performance.

         "During the show, guests have an opportunity to participate in the 'Drag Makeover' auction to select a friend–or submit themselves– to being made over as a diva and join the cast for the show."

         "Hell in a Handbag Productions will hold a benefit and variety show for 'Poseidon! An Upside Down Musical,' from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3, at Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted. Hosted by and featuring cast members and friends of 'Poseidon!,' the afternoon's entire door and raffle donations will benefit the cast and crew as they head to New York for the 2003 New York International Fringe Festival, Aug. 17-25. A cast of 24, directed by David Zak, recreate the characters in the 1972 movie 'The Poseidon Adventure,' the movie that popularized the '70s disaster movie genre."
