Happy Chinese New Year

Fri. February 15, 2013

It was Chinese New Year week and to celebrate I ate a tangerine and hit the road to try out the new Chinese restaurant at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana. While this might not be commonly thought of as a Chinese hotspot there are actual busloads of visitors brought in from Chicago's own China Town each day running 22 hours a day with an exception from 5 am to 7 am.

The buffet outside the concert venue does offer some pan asian cuisine but to get even more authentic head over to the Asian gaming area to where a brand new attraction is located.

Foo Noodle Bar serves traditional Chinese food along with a mix of Vietnamese, Korean, and Thai offerings from 10 am to 5 am. Reasonably priced and designed for a quick snack before heading back out to the blackjack table, this is the place to unwind for a bit.

Top notch service along with soups, starters and warm tea gets things cooking. Fish dishes and crispy shrimp will appease the seafood lovers. Don't miss the chicken and Chinese broccoli before you go.

Grab some good luck candy on the way out to win big after your meal. Remember this is a quick 20 minute drive on the skyway making it a nice getaway. What's in it for gays especially? Well, gay icons perform out there all the time. I have met performers like Diane Ross and Donna Summer singing their hearts out for packed audiences at The Venue so watch their website for updates today at www.horseshoehammond.com.
