The Center on Halsted, will host a Legal Preparedness Seminar which is designed to provide free, accessible legal education for the LGBT community about critically needed protections. Because LGBT partnerships are not legally recognized, the LGBT community faces unique legal challenges. Participants in this first seminar will learn about powers of attorney, guardianship, hospital rights and health care surrogacy protections for LGBT individuals and how to best protect themselves, their families and their relationships. Volunteer attorneys will be available after the seminar to answer questions.
