41st Chicago International Film Festival

The Chicago International Film Festival, the oldest competitive international film festival in North America, will raise the curtain on its 41st annual event on October 6, then run through October 20 at Chicago theaters. Film fans will be able to choose from 101 feature films and 42 short films from 34 countries. The 2005 Festival received more than 1,300 submissions and will include three world premieres (The Trouble with Dee Dee, Feast and The Unseen), 11 North American Premieres and 34 U.S. premieres. Presented by Cinema/Chicago, this year's Film Festival program will feature a wide variety of special events and panel discussions that provide enlightening educational experiences about films and filmmaking. Chase, the consumer and commercial banking business of JPMorgan Chase, is the Festival's title sponsor for the second straight year. Most festival films will be shown at AMC River East 21 (322 E. Illinois St.), and Landmark's Century Centre Cinema (2828 N. Clark St.), with special showings at the Chicago Theater (175 N. State St.) and Harris Theater for Musci and Dance (205 E. Randolph Dr.). Festival screenings cost $11 for the general public, $8 for Cijnema/Chicago members and $7 for all students and may be purchased at the theater box offices (one hour before the day's 1st screening), select Chicago Borders stores (830 N.
