Dreams in Nightmares

Directed by Shatara Michelle Ford (TEST PATTERN) and featuring a cast of majority queer and trans Black performers, DREAMS IN NIGHTMARES blends lyrical visuals, sharp performances, and a nonlinear emotional structure into a striking cinematic mosaic. In a charming tale of chosen family, three Black queer femmes hit the road across the American Midwest in search of a friend who has seemingly disappeared off the grid. As they drift through city after city, each stop brings new characters and artistic encounters that challenge their connection to one another and themselves. Poetry, drag, ancestral visions, and ghostly messages thread through the film, turning this rescue mission into a surreal and intimate journey of joy, truth, and the freedom to dream of a new life.
