The Playland Café, a legendary part of Bostonâ??s queer history, is open one last time. This beautifully-shot, dreamlike film follows the employees and patrons of Playland through a stylized imagining of the bar as the past is transported to the present. Artist-filmmaker Georden West collapses time and space to capture the barâ??s decades-long history in this stunning and haunting debut feature. Following multiple storylines throughout history and weaving in vintage archival footage, West uses a multimedia approach to paint this vivid and fantastical queer establishment in all its glory and pain one last time.
