Set in Bhopal, in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, the drama A PLACE OF OUR OWN follows trans women Laila and Roshni as they search for a new home after their prejudiced landlord evicts them without notice. While on the hunt, they encounter supportive friendships as well as the toxic workplaces and uncaring families that have cast them aside. They suffer through harassment and discrimination every day, but also hold themselves with grace amidst adversity. The filmâ??s unpretentious sincerity enables the viewer to empathize with Laila and Roshniâ??s frustrations, and admire their strength as they depend on each other throughout the journey.
