Reeling: Norwegian Dream
Burdened with being the breadwinner for himself and his mother from a young age, 19-year-old Polish teen Robert immigrates to Norway to work in a salmon processing plant. Though Norway is more progressive and accepting than his native Poland, Robert has always found it easier to keep his head down and keep to himself, a method he plans to stick to while working in the hyper masculine environment of the factory. Then, while working on the line, he meets Ivar, the out-and-proud adopted son of the factory owner. Despite seeing how the other factory workers disrespect Ivar, Robert cannot help but develop first a friendship and then a romantic relationship with the outgoing and magnetic young man. Having always hidden away his feelings and urges, this new relationship necessitates that Robert contend with some of his deepest held fears, especially when he learns that Ivar is a vogue performer and aspiring drag queen. Robertâ??s life is further disrupted when the fellow Poles at the factory begin to strike. Struggling to support his mother, conflicted about his stance on the strike, and used to hiding his feelings, Robert must start making hard choices and learn to face the consequences of doing so. Set in scenic Scandinavia, NORWEGIAN DREAM is a coming-of-age story about two young men navigating cultural and economic conflict in order to find love. Sponsored
