Reeling: The Lost Boys
With his impending release from a juvenile detention center drawing closer, 17-year-old Joe is both looking forward to leaving and anxious about returning to society. Since a judge has granted him permission to live alone upon release, Joe is concentrating on preparing to rebuild his life. His plans are derailed, however, by the arrival of William, a teenage tattoo artist placed in the neighboring cell. Passions quickly flare between the two teens, and bold, romantic love develops behind bars. Though still physically confined, the boys experience a different sort of freedom when together: a freedom born from their desires and their ability to express their feelings for each other despite their situation. Joeâ??s case worker warns him against starting anything with William, but the boys refuse to listen. Even so, Joeâ??s release date continues to loom ever closer, causing the boys to question the high costs they have to pay for so-called freedom.
