Reeling: All the Colours of the World Are Between Black and White
An achingly beautiful Nigerian film, which won the Teddy award at the Berlin Film Festival, follows two men who fall in love but struggle immensely with their feelings. Bambino and Bawaâ??s relationship is tested as they navigate their feelings for each other while riding around Lagos for a photo competition. Bambino grapples with his own self-doubt and uncertainty, while Bawa is convinced that their feelings are a sign of something deeper. In a country where being gay is illegal and subtle actions are under a microscope, the filmmakerâ??s lens acts as a witness to the most private moments where our protagonist's emotions breathe just beneath the surface. A true marvel of a first feature film from director Babatunde Apalowo, this stunningly photographed pondering on love and desire puts a welcome spotlight on a place rarely seen on screen.
