Celebrate joy, laughter and friendship at the world’s premier convention for fans of “The Golden Girls” in Chicago March 31-April 2.
Friends, pals and confidants – bring your besties and prepare to make new ones at Golden-Con: Thank You for Being a Fan, a three-day event taking place at the Sheraton Grand in downtown Chicago along the Riverwalk. The event includes live performances, dance parties, cast interviews, expert discussions, trivia and vendor market.
The main event, A Mother of A Solid Gold Dancer Disco hosted by the Golden Gays, takes place Saturday night in The Shady Pines Dance Hall (disco only tickets available). Those interested in taking a deeper dive into “Golden Girl” history will get a closer-than-ever-before look behind the scenes at the makings of TV’s greatest sitcom with panel discussions with writers, producers and directors from every season of the show, as well as spinoff series “The Golden Palace” and “Empty Nest.”
Special guests attending this year’s event include Cindy Fee, singer of the show’s theme song; Emmy Award-winning director Terry Hughes; actors who appeared in Golden Girls episodes, including Dinah Manoff (Marty Maraschino in Grease) and David Leisure (Joe Isuzu from ‘80s and ‘90s car commercials); and Melinda McClanahan, Rue McClanahan’s sister.
Golden-Con brings together fans of “The Golden Girls” from around the world to celebrate the critically acclaimed sitcom that originally ran from 1985 to 1992. The show starred Bea Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan, and Estelle Getty as four older women who share a home together in Miami. Although the series ended in 1992, it remained in worldwide syndication and has continued to reach a growing fanbase through home streaming.
Single-day, weekend and VIP tickets are available now. Tickets, discounted hotel packages and the full event schedule can be found at thankyouforbeingafan.com.
